About the artist
Aban Raza (b. 1989) is a New Delhi-based printmaker, painter, filmmaker, curator, and activist. She was conferred the 2024 Asia Arts Game Changer Award by Asia Society. Her practice originates from the crossover between her political concerns and philosophical preoccupations. Raza's deep-seated interest in the political climate in India co-exists with her ongoing interest in the greater universe and the black holes. Her exploration of the universe resulted in a series of lithographic prints made using organic materials of stone, water, and sand. For Raza, lithography is a space of immersion to process an expanded visual language that articulates her dissent towards the political realities of our time.
