About the Artist
A singer, songwriter, and boundary breaker Vasuda Sharma reimagines genre, gender, feminism, Indian music, and the very definition of an artist. From the onset of her career, she has consistently shifted perspectives on stage as a performer and behind-the-scenes as a songwriter and music producer. After getting due recognition as a pop artist in early stages of her career, she transferred her songcraft talent to her debut and India's biggest crowdfunded album (Attuned Spirits). The album's impeccable confluence of melodic hooks and soft rock textures defines her skillset.
Vasuda’s journey started as an integral part of Pop Band “Aasma” with their superhit songs – Chandu Ke Chacha and Tumse Hi Pyar, released (3) successful albums and over 300 concerts around the world. Hereafter, she pursued a scholarship to study music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Before-mentioned has helped her bridge the world of Indian classical and folk with western contemporary music hence creating a sound she believes has ample scope to evolve in the future.
She performed at various International Music Festivals; Holland India Festival 2015-2018, Iomma, Sakifo (Reunion Island) 2018, Miniere Sonore (Cagliari) 2018, Earth Sync (Chennai) 2017. She was the music director of a few Bollywood films including “Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu” directed by Makrand Deshpande 2011. She opened for Bryan Adams concert in Delhi and Bangalore with her band “Aasma” in 2004. She is the first artist in India to have mastered the art of Live Looping and did a TEDx talk about her journey as an independent musician. Her Pop fusion band ‘Sharma And The Besharmas’ is an upcoming indie band with a promising sound. With an eclectic approach to her creativity topped with an incredibly unique voice and style, you never know what she is going to do next.
