Why should gallery experiences only be for grown ups? With a strong belief that art is for everyone and has no age, Dipna is excited to view, explore, and converse with children about artist Saviya Lopes’ solo exhibition ‘Dear Tereza…’.

We will dive into themes of family, where we come from, grandmothers, feminism and what makes me - ‘me’! We will explore this through stories, journaling, gestural movement play and enquiry into our own history.

Parents are welcome to be part of this workshop. Children need to carry their pencils, eraser, crayons/ colour pencils.

About the facilitator

Dipna Daryanani is a Mumbai based educator, movement artist, founder ‘Move with Joy’ and cofounder of a thoughtful clothing brand for children called 'Love the World Today'

She started her career 14 years ago as an early childhood educator. In the last 8 years, she has moved into the space of 'Arts in Education' combining her love for the performing arts and early childhood education. She has worked across various schools in Mumbai in the capacity of a preschool teacher, dance educator, theatre educator, concert director and teacher trainer.
She has worked with schools like A.V.M, Jamnabai Narsee, Singapore International Prep school, JBCN group of schools, NSS Hillspring and more.
She also enjoys working in the social sector and making the joy of arts and learning accessible to all. This has led her to conduct workshops with learners and teachers in tribal belts of Melghat, Maharashtra, Teach for India and Aseema classrooms. She has also worked with children with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome and Autism at the Jyotirmay Trust as a dance and movement facilitator. More recently, she is choreographing a work with an NGO in Bandra for NCPA’s Connections programme in collaboration with National Theatre UK - a theatre programme for young adults across the globe. Dipna envisions dance and movement to be part of every learner's life.
It is with this curiosity and interest that she has designed a ‘creative movement’ programme especially for 2.5 to 8 year olds called 'Move with Joy' that focuses on establishing a deep connection of listening with the body and encourages children to continue thinking with their whole selves.

Her journey as an artist began when she won a scholarship from the Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company to study Contemporary dance in 2011. It was during this time, she trained in Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary Dance styles and Yoga.
As a movement artist, she’s been working in the space of contemporary dance and dance theatre for the last 9 years now with varied mentors, directors and choreographers thus constantly searching and developing her own authentic movement language.
‘Unselfed’, ‘So Many Socks’, ‘Moonfool’, ‘Conditions of Carriage’, ‘The Lost Wax Project’, 'Water Games', ‘How are you today?’ are some projects she has been part of and performed across India and internationally. Interdisciplinary work is where she finds her creativity fuel. Her approach to performance is through exploring the simple, honest and ordinary facets of life. She is deeply interested in understanding the body, and communication of the body through the arts.

When not dancing or teaching, she is busy building her sustainable and ethical clothing brand for children along with her sister.
