About the Organization/Artist
Walkitecture is Architect and Restorator Nikhil Mahashur's passion project that started five years ago, primarily for architectural students at the colleges he lectured, friends and family. Nikhil developed an affinity towards the subject when he restored and designed a couple of buildings in South Mumbai. Within the architectural miles of the neighbourhood, one can find a stew of old buildings with striking features and lesser-told stories behind every facade and structure.
Based in Bhopal, self-taught visual artist Shad Fatima began her practice over 15 years ago as an outlet for her stifled voice. Growing up in a conservative-minded family, expressing herself through painting was a necessary solace amidst the chaos. Anger, frustration and a yearning for escape fuelled her two distinct bodies of work at her first solo exhibition ‘Dasht-gard’.
Shad Fatima was selected for the 7th Beijing International Art Biennale China in 2017. Her talent has garnered recognition, with accolades such as the SH Raza Award in Painting and the Avishkar Van Gogh Award in Kolkata. She has also showcased her work internationally at the Creatives Rising digital showcase in New York while within India showcases include Kanoria Center for Arts Ahmedabad, Lalit Kala Academy, and Art Society of India.
