A concert celebrating the diverse music of Shobha Gurtu

A show based on an eminent personality in the world of music, Smt Shobha Gurtu. The world knows her for her unparalleled renditions of semi classical music, but she was a classically trained vocalist and a versatile singer as well, who had given her voice for many feature films. She was born and brought up in Belgaum, and then established herself in Mumbai and explored different genres from folk music to classical music in different languages. Some of her beautiful compositions and the story of her life will be presented in this show by Swarali Joshi, accompanied by Sidharth Padiyar on tabla and Apoorv Petkar on harmonium.

About the artists
Swarali was raised in a musical family. She started her musical journey at the age of 5, learning from her mother Smita Joshi. Her father is a music lecturer.
She is currently learning from Dr Ashwini Bhide Deshpande.
Swarali has been performing since the past 8-10 years. She pursued her Bachelorette degree of Economics from Pune university and is now pursuing MA. She completed Visharad in music, and has won many competitions of classical and semi classical music. She participated in the well known Marathi reality show SUR NAWA DHYAS NAWA on Colors Marathi and got a chance to perform with Hariharan
Initiated in tabla from Shri. Kishore Patre, Siddharth Padiyar recieved further guidance from Narayan Prabhu and Prashant Pimpale. He is presently learning Tabla under the keen guidance of Dr. Aneesh Pradhan. Siddharth has been performing from the past 10 years and has experience in accompanying to Hindustani vocal and instrumental music, theatre, dance and collaborative music projects with various artistes.
Apoorv, being fortunate to be raised in a musical family, has developed a very keen interest in Indian Classical Music and is pursuing the course in the same. He is the son of world renowned harmonium player Pt. Mukund Petkar.
He has achieved excellence in harmonium and he has been receiving training from Pt. Mukund Petkar (Senior Disciple of Late Pt. Appasaheb Jalgaonkar). He mastered the basics of Santoor from Dr. Dhananjay Daithankar (Senior Disciple of Late Pt. Shivkumar Sharma) and later developed the technique on his own. He has received an early 'Taalim' of Swar Sadhana from his mother Smt. Poorva Petkar (Disciple of Vid. Shaila Datar). He is receiving his classical vocal 'Taalim' from Shri. Mukul Kulkarni (Senior Disciple of Pt. Arun Kashalkar and Late Pt. Sharad Sathe) of Gwalior-Agra Gharana.
He has performed with and accompanied many artists, Vidwaan Shankar Mahadevan, Guru Shama Tai Bhate, Pt. Arun Kashalkar, Pt. Ramdas Palsule, Pt. Mukund Petkar, Dr. Sameer Dubley, Dr. Neeraj Lande, Pt. Jagannath Wadekar, Pt. Rahul Deshpande, Shri. Mukul Kulkarni, Shri. Dattaprasad Ranade, Shri. Nandesh Umap, Shri. Swar Sharma as well as Nagesh Adgaonkar, Sanika Kulkarni, Jaydeep Vaidya, Vinay Ramdasan, Shruti Vishwakarma, Kalyani Deshpande to name a few. Worked as a Session Instrumentalist for several musical albums and songs, TVCs with directors like Late Shri. Narendra Bhide, Tushar Pandit, Amod Kulkarni, Devendra Bhome etc. Performed in the celebrated Urdu literature and mausiiquii show 'Sukhan' and has done shows all over Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. He was also a part of the show 'O Gaanewali' with Indian idol fame Avanti Patel and Saregamapa fame Rutuja Lad. Has performed in Delhi, Rajkot, Mumbai, Pune, Bhuvanedhwar and Nagpur till date.
