Aksh Diwan Garg (born: October 2001) is a visual artist from New Delhi, India. He renders oil and acrylic in dense, bold strokes, using vivid and rich tones. These artistic choices combine to bring focus to his paintings' narrative: semi-autobiographical self-portraits, in gender neutral personas, depicted in scenarios imagined through his life experiences.
Garg's sensitive portrayal of human postures, facial expressions and hand gestures brings his figurative characters to life. Styled in strong and groovy attires, hairstyles and jewellery, they flaunt their identity with sensuality. They are unmistakably fearless and independent, each asserting a rightful place in society. The characters and the domains they inhabit are born of Garg's observations of his milieu, and are expressed with flourishes of his own beliefs, personality, fantasies and story-telling.
Being in this reverie connects Garg to his inner psyche, and liberates him to depict the beautifully ambiguous brown culture as he perceives it. Garg, who also practises filmmaking and photography, has done Bachelor in Fine Arts from College of Art, New Delhi.
Garg's work has been part of several exhibitions, including 'Ways of Being' at Art Manzil, Toronto in June 2025, 'To Make a Home with You' at Art and Charlie, Mumbai in April 2025, Fresh Produce, a parallel show at India Art Fair with Method India in January to February 2025, 'In Defence of Shadows' at Round Them Oranges, Jaipur in 2024, and
'Rung', a group show at Dastaangoi Gallery, Pakistan in 2023.
He is represented by Art & Charlie, Mumbai. He has also been a part of artist residencies that have informed and expanded his practice. In October 2023, he was a resident at the Dastaangoi Artist Residency in Islamabad. Most recently, he completed the Space Studio Winter Residency in Baroda from October 2024 to January 2025.
