About the Artists

Dakshayani is deeply impacted by the transformational power of Indian Traditional Arts. Her education of Law from ILS Law College, a Masters degree from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai with multiple years of experience of working with NGOs broadened her perspective on challenges, solutions and approaches to thinking about change. She went on to start the Baithak Foundation in 2016, as a manifestation of her faith in the power of music as a tool for human development. She is currently the CEO of Baithak Foundation. Dakshayani is also a trained Kirtankar (a traditional performative form of musical storytelling.) and continues her musical training under the Agra Gharana Guru Pt. Vivek Joshi.

Mandar’s story as a singer as well as a writer is filled with serendipity and passion. He studied engineering at the prestigious Government College of Engineering, Pune, worked in a start-up while simultaneously running a philosophy club, writing an active blog and pursuing his musical talents. He also became a published author with four books to his credit. However, all this while he has continued to be a student of Indian Khayal Music and has been fortunate to learn from the late Pandit. Purushottam Kaslikar and the late Pandit. Vijay Sardeshmukh. He is continuing his taleem under Pandit. Vivek Joshi. His taleem allows Mandar to draw from the rich traditions of Kirana, Gwalior and Agra Gharana along with the artistic approach of Pt. Kumar Gandharva created an unusual and unique blend. Mandar performs Hindustani Classical/Khayal Music along with specially curated presentations of his self-composed works of saint and mystic poetry. Mandar is a deep thinker and orator which reflects in his thoughtful curation of each performance. His sonorous voice and charismatic musical construction enables his audience to access deep states of reflection and silence.
