While shayari has largely been the domain of male poets, the same cannot be said about their musical renditions. Many women singers have played a huge role in popularising ghazals.
Come witness Jahnvi Shrimankar sing and talk about some of these ghazals made popular by women singers of the Indian subcontinent She will be accompanied by Omkar Agnihotri on harmonium and Sameer Zore on tabla.
About the Artist
Known for her work in Gujarati films, fusion music as well as in Bollywood, Jahnvi Shrimankar is the voice behind the popular chartbuster, Dholida, from Gangubai Kathiawadi. She sings flawlessly in a variety of genres such as bhajans, folk, ghazals & semi-classical. Some of her credible collaboration work includes playback for renowned composers such as Sachin Jigar, Osman Mir and Salim-Suleiman. She has also performed as a lead female vocalist with Amit Trivedi, Javed Akhtar and Parthiv Gohil.
Jahnvi has been formally trained by stalwarts like Kaumudi Munshi, Purushottam Upadhyay & Gautam Mukherjee and has performed in over thousands of shows across India and abroad.
In the show Naara-ae-Mastana, she will showcase ghazals of the Indian subcontinent, and the women who popularized them.
