Attiya Usman (b. 1988) is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in the tradition of miniature painting. She holds a Master’s in Graphic Design from the College of Art & Design, Punjab University. She developed an interest in Indo-Persian miniature art under the mentorship of Ustad Basir Ahmed. Her miniatures explore themes from women’s domestic life, documenting their role in South Asian societies as the binding and sustaining force across various spheres of everyday life. In particular, her work uses hair as both line and language. By transforming the traditional braid into a structural map of feminine resilience, Usman bridges the intimate body and the expansive landscape. Through intricate compositions, she explores themes of continuity, memory, and survival. Usman lives in XXXX, Pakistan.
